Run Program Checks the syntax of the program that is in the Edit Window, then if the syntax is correct, runs the program.
Continue This is enabled when a PAUSE instruction is encountered during program execution. Selecting Continue causes the program to continue processing.
Abort... This is enabled only while a Resampling Stats program is running. Displays a dialog box asking for confirmation. If the user selects yes, the currently executing program will be terminated.
Check Program Syntax Performs a syntax check of the contents of the Edit Window but doesn't run the program. Prints the results of the check in the Output Window.
Debug Mode When this icon is showing, this menu item will start the Statistics101 debugger. Statistics101 will scan your program for syntax errors. If no errors, the program will be started in "step mode". This means that you can step through your program's commands one at a time and observe how your program variables change, using the Step menu described immediately below. If syntax errors were found, the program will be aborted and the first error will be reported for you to correct. When this icon is showing, this selection will cause the program to exit step mode and begin running at full speed. When the program is running at full speed, this icon will appear in the menu. Clicking the menu item when that icon is showing will stop the program after whatever command it is executing and put it back into step mode. Only one icon shows at a time depending on what mode the debugger is running in. Normally, you will access these functions much more easily and naturally from the toolbar or the keyboard shortcuts.
Step This menu item is enabled only when the program is being debugged in "step mode". This means that when it is enabled, clicking this menu item will cause the program to execute one command, and then stop at next command waiting for you to click it again. Meanwhile you can observe the changing values of your program's variables in the Debug Variables window.
Toggle Breakpoint This item will set or unset a breakpoint at the line under the mouse pointer. This item is only enabled when the Debug edit tab's editor is displayed.
Clear All Breakpoints This menu item removes any breakpoints that are currently set.
For more information on Debug Mode, see the DEBUG command and the appendix titled "Using the Debugger".
