    Installer problem under windows 7 / 64

    Hello John.

I'm having problems installing the latest 1.4.9. I am running windows 7 (64), brand new install. I've tried with both java 32 and 64b. In both cases, the installer proceeds fine until after I select the target directory, then it stalls (no crash, no error, but nothing happens and no buttons are functional except the cancel button).

I use an admin account and target directory situated on my desktop, as indicated in the install instructions. I've tried installing to another drive alltogether, but same results. When I run java -jar installstatistics.jar, I get an "error loading library" at the point where the installer fails (com.izforge.izpack.util.Librarian.loadArchSpecificLibrary(Unknown Source).

To make things worse, it seems I have now also screwed up the association between JAR files and javar run time (while trying to understand the error), but that's my problem to fix ;-)

Any ideas would be positively welcome!
    Gus

    Gus,

I tried installing it on my other Win7/64 system with no trouble like you're having. One thing that does happen is that the OS prevents Stats101 from accessing the "config" and the "resampling programs" file for write. That generates an error when it tries to save the recent files info or when you try to save a program file. The solution to that is to use admin privileges to change the security settings on the Statistics101 installation folder:

       1. Right-click the installation folder and select "Properties".
       2. Select the "Security" tab.
       3. In the "Group or user names" box, select "Users"
       4. In the "Permissions for users" box, check "full control".
       5. Click "OK" button.

Re your hang-up problem, it might be your anti-virus program interfering with it. That's just a guess.

    Let me know what happens.

    John

Re: Installer problem under windows 7 / 64

    Hello.

Not sure what was the problem, but here's how I fixed it, just in case someone else has this problem:
    - installed java 32
    - reinstalled previous Stats101 version (1.4.8). That seems to have cleaned something somwhere.
    - un-installed Stats101 via Ctrl Panel
    - un-installed all java 32/64
    - rebooted
    - installed java 64
    - installed new Stats101 1.4.9

    Voila!
